Face to face with Moko, a solitary bottlenose dolphin who spent time off the Mahia Peninsula in 2009. Moko interacted with swimmers, kayakers & fishing boats and was even in the news when he reportedly helped guide two pygmy sperm whales back out to sea when they became stuck in the shallows. Solitary dolphins that interact with humans are known worldwide but the reasons for their solitary behaviour are not well understood.
